Live: WEC Six Hours Of Silverstone: Race – Part One

This live blog will be updated during the first two hours of the Six Hours of Silverstone, the first round of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

14:00The #31 Lotus looks like it’s stopped out on track

13:58Kobayashi says it’s not easy through the traffic but is looking forward to the next session

13:58#92 Porsche comes in to the pits for a scheduled stop, all looks ok despite the contact with the Krohn Ferrari

13:54The #61 remains in the garage with the team working hard to fix the front of the F458 after the Strakka attack

13:52The #99 Aston Martin and the #76 Porsche pit

13:50The #32 Lotus – in the pits since the opening stages after their own clash at Village – is back on track, though way, way off the pace

13:47Gerber’s made t back to the pits, but it’s not going to be a quick fix for the #61 team

13:47All gone a bit mad for AF Corse, Kamui Kobayashi spins at Becketts on the fluid being dropped by Jack Gerber’s #61

13:45Leventis lost the HPD under braking for the right-hander and smashed into the Ferrari, which was innocently turning to the corner

13:44Nick Leventis in the Strakka LMP1 and the #61 AF Corse Ferrari have had a big crash at Village

13:43Loic Duval has lapped fourth placed Nicolas Lapierre, with 1:45 of racing complete

13:39Drops of rain are back!!!!!

13:37John Martin has stayed in the #26 and is still ahead in LMP2 after the pitstops

13:35Neel Jani completes the second round of LMP1 stops in the #12 Rebellion – timing screens say he’s staying in for a third stint

13:32Martin, Pizzonia and Olivier Pla – the top 3 in LMP2 are all in the pits

13:29Joerg Bergmiester has got back to the race after a stop in the Porsche AG team Manthey garage in the #91 car

13:29Now Davidson brings the #8 into the pits, Stephane Sarrazin gets in – 90 minutes into the race now

13:28John Martin has passed Delta-ADR/G-Drive teammate Pizzonia for the LMP2 lead

13:27Alex Wurz is the first Toyota into the pits for the second time, Lapierre will climb aboard the #7

13:26Anthony Davidson should be into the pits soon from a lead he picked up when the Audis pitted

13:24#61 – AF Corse’s LMGTE Am car is off at Brooklands in the gravel – Jack Gerber at the wheel. He’s off and running again after a shove from the marshals

13:22Treluyer pits a lap after McNish. Despite the stall Duval should still get the lead back

13:21Benoit Treluyer – temporarily – takes the lead of the race in the #1. Duval stalls the #2 as he leaves the pits

13:20End of lap 45, McNish is into the pits

13:19Raymond Narac, in the IMSA Performance Porsche breaks the Aston Martin dominate in LMGTE Am, passing Roald Goethe for second

13:17LMP teams getting ready for a second round of pitstops. Loic Duval preparing to take over the leading #2 car

13:13Kamui Kobayashi gets by Joerg Bergmeister for third in GTE Pro

13:11It’s still and Aston Martin Racing 1-2 in LMGTE Am, Allan Simonsen leads Roald Goethe by nearly 70 seconds

13:08After pitstops it’s now Darren Turner in the leading Aston in LMGTE Pro, now chased by Giancarlo Fisichella for AF Corse

13:05John Martin has passed two OAK racing Morgans in one lap and it’s now 1-2 for Delta-ADR in LMP2 with Antonio Pizzonia still leading

13:02The #96 Aston Martin is out on track again but running slow

13:01Top 3 after 1 hour LMP – #25 Delta-ADR, #35 OAK Racing, #24 OAK Racing – Very close around Stowe corner, possible contact

13:00Top 3 after 1 hour LMP1 – #2 Audi, #1 Audi, #8 Toyota

 

12:58Aston Martin are ready for a pitstop

12:58The incident betwween the Greaves and KCMG car is now under investigation

12:58Wurz uses the traffic to his adantage to get around the Rebellion car, now up to fourth place

12:57The Chris Dyson Greaves comes together with KCMG car, Howson gets spun around infront of the #13 Rebellion, all cars ok

12:56Kane continues his impressive run in the Strakka car after starting from the back of the grid is now on the tail of #12 Rebellion

12:55Treluyer is currently the fastest of the two Audis as the gap is reduced to 19 seconds between the leaders

12:54Wurz is now right behind the Rebellion of Belicchi and looking to make a move around the customer Toyota-powered car

12:53This means Kamui Kobayashi is set for his first competitive run in the FIA WEC in the Ferrari

12:52#92 Porsche and #71 Ferrari in the pits, looks like a driver change for the Ferrari

12:51Stefan Mucke leads the GTE Pro class with a comfortable 9 second gap back to the Ferrari of Bruni

12:50Gap between McNish and Treluyer now up to 22 seconds, #8 Toyota of Davidson running in third

12:47Belicchi brings the #13 Rebellion in to the pits for a scheduled stop

12:46Stop and Go penalty for #49 Pecom Racing car for the incident involving the #32 Lotus Praga earlier

12:45LMP2 cars #26, #24, #41, #47 all in the pits, with #24 gaining the advantage and a place on the race out of the pitlane

12:44The #99 Aston Martin has lost out to the Ferrari of Bruni and Porsche of Pilet and drops to fourth in class

12:43Pizzonia comes in to the pits from the LMP2 lead . Davidson brings in the #8 Toyota in from the lead.

12:41Toyota waiting in the pits for the #7 car while the #31 Lotus LMP2 continues to have issues with the door.

12:40The two Rebeillion cars are running in tandem as the look to make it though traffic through the complex.

12:39Audi #2 in for fuel, looks like a double stint with no tyres or driver changes, #1 loses a little time in the pits

12:38Aston Martin continue to dominate both GTE classes holding on to their one-two positions

12:38#7 Toyota continues to pick it’s way though LMP2 traffic, locking up again

12:33Kimber-Smith is responding to the incoming Howson and was a second and a half quicker on that last lap

12:32#8 Toytota garage could be getting ready for a stop, appears to be some movement in the pitlane

12:31Still problems for the #32 Lotus Praga as they look for damage caused in the accident earlier, doesn’t look good for their debut

12:30Another lock up for the #7 Toyota

12:29In LMP2 Howson is closing in on the back of Kimber-Smith, less than 5 seconds between the two now

12:26Well clear at the front in LMGTE Am Jamie Campbell-Walter and Allan Simonsen are keeping up with the end of the Pro cars

12:24Wurz in fourth is falling back , now ten seconds behind Davidson

12:23Lap 13: McNish leads by 6.5 seconds from Treluyer, Davidson holding firm 6 more back in third

12:22Minassian is lighting up the times and is running fastest of the LMP2 cars as he looks to make up time lost in the collision with the Lotus

12:19Top three in Michelin Green X – #50 Labre Corvette, #49 Pecom Oreca, #31 Lotus Praga

12:19Twenty minutes in. Stefan Mucke still leads LMGTE Pro, with a six second advantage over fellow Aston Martin man Pedro Lamy

12:18Anthony Davidson up to third at Stowe on lap 10, but he’s 11 seconds off the lead and 6 behind Treluyer in second place

12:18Matt Howson is on the move in LMP2 as he looks to make the gap up to the Greaves car, currently a 17 second gap

12:16The other Lotus – with Jan Charouz – has made it back to the pits, with suspension damage on the right-front from the contact at Village

12:16The #47 KCMG car has made it by the #45 OAK racing  car up to sixth in class

12:15Luizzi is back into the pits, and being pushed back into the garage in the #31 Lotus

12:14Julien Canal has also made an early stop in the Larbre Competition LMGTE Am Corvette for tyres and fuel.

12:13Minassian has made it back to the pits. Jan Charouz is still slow out on track.

12:12Treluyer is up to second – it’s now an Audi 1-2!!

12:12Unsurprisingly the Minassian/Charouz contact is being investigated by officials

12:11The Strakkacar of Kane has now passed the LMP2 cars and is currently around 23 seconds behind the Rebellion of Belicchi

12:11McNish leads!! He passes Wurz at the start of the seventh lap. Can he pull away from the Toyotas?

12:10Nic Minassian has hit Jan Charouz’s Lotus at Village. Damage to Minassian’s Pecom Racing car at least

12:09End of lap five and Wurz has a 0.5 second gap to McNish, Davidson another 0.4 back

12:07Treluyer is up to fourth past Neel Jani

12:06First problem is for the #31 Lotus of Tonio Liuzzi – team being told to check the car’s door

12:05The KCMG LMP2 car is making it’s way through the GT cars and has now made it to the back of the class

12:05McNish has second from Davidson at Stowe on lap three.

12:02Pizzonia, Mucke and Campbell-Walter all lead the opening laps in their classes from pole position

12:02Wurz leads lap one from Davidson and McNish. Jani keeps fourth place between the R18

12:00Green Flag!! Toyotas are 1 and 2 into Abbey for the first time and the whole field is round turn one safely!

11:58He gets a shove from the marshals and is back on his way

11:57Already a problem for Jim Ka To in the KCMG LMP2 Morgan who has spun on the formation lap at The Loop

11:56And cars are off on the formation lap. Time to start the #WEC season!!!!

11:56Engines are fired, the noise rumbling up into the media centre from the grid outside

11:54Counting down to the start of the formation lap now. Pulses staring to race yet?

11:50Antonio Pizzonia will lead LMP2 away from Delta-ADR/G-Drive Racing, Stefan Mucke and Jamie Campbell-Walter will start from LMHTE pro and AM poles

11:47Allan McNish and Benoit Treluyer in the two Audi e-tron quattro, split by Neel Jani in the #12 Rebellion

11:46Looks like it’ll be Alex Wurz and Anthony Davidson starting the #7 and #8 Toyotas from the front row.

11:44The cars are out on the grid outside The Wing. The sky is cloudy but so far rain is staying away.
