Porsche GT Driver Tandy Tests Motorbase Ford

1 Mins read

British GT driver Nick Tandy has tested a British Touring Car for the first time today at Brands Hatch in a Motorbase Ford Focus, the team not ruling out the possibility of a race outing for him in 2013.

The works Porsche driver took to the Kent circuit behind the wheel of the team’s third NGTC Focus – driven recently by Michael Caine in the previous BTCC round at Croft – and is likely to continue to do so in the coming tests held at Snetterton on July 9/10.

Former Carrera Cup Germany champion Tandy is likely to share the car with fellow GT driver Caine over that period, Motorbase team boss David Bartrum hoping the former McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award finalist and British Formula 3 race winner can continue further testing in that official TOCA test next week as they look to improve on their struggling 2013 form.

Bartrum told AUTOSPORT: “This is to get him used to the car for Tuesday at Snetterton. We’ll throw him out there with everyone else.

With Porsche having allowed permission for such tests, Bartrum did not rule out race outings for the 28-year-old during the remainder of the current BTCC campaign alongside regular drivers Mat Jackson and Aron Smith.
