For the second time this weekend, we have had an unsafe release situation in the pit lane, which this time involving Team Phoenix‘s Miguel Molina. The Audi Sport driver was released into the path of BMW Motorsport‘s Timo Glock during qualifying, which was the same infraction that was caused during the roll out involving Augusto Farfus and Mike Rockenfeller last night.
The offence relates to Article 23.9 of the 2013 DTM Sporting Regulations, with the Spanish driver also being hit with a 2000 Euro fine for the incident that transpired. It is clear that the teams are trying to push the limit to make sure that it all goes to plan, but when split second decisions happen that can compromise safety, then there is no tolerance for stepping out of line.
