4. Hulkenberg’s superb double pass – 2012

Another highlight of last year’s race was one of the overtakes of the season, courtesy of Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg. Driving at the time for Force India, he managed to catch Romain Grosjean and Lewis Hamilton, who were having their own private duel over sixth and seventh place.

Clearly, they were paying too much attention on each other, and not enough on the German, as in the first sector of the lap he was able to drive clean around the outside of first Grosjean, and then Hamilton, in the space of a couple of corners.

It was a wonderful move, with Hulkenberg holding his nerve on the outside of the corner, despite Hamilton’s best efforts, to make a tricky overtake look textbook.  A sixth place finish and eight championship points was his reward.
