2. Mark Webber crashes out of the championship lead – 2010
Without a doubt, the 2010 Korean Grand Prix was easily the most dramatic of the three races to date, which is why it fills the top two places on this count down.
The sport was greeted by truly awful weather on its first visit to Korea, which led to a red flag and a lengthy rain delay. Once the race did eventually get going though, it wasn’t long before things started to kick off.
Mark Webber was having a great 2010 up to this point, and arrived in Korea as the championship leader, but it all went wrong within the space of a couple of laps. Running second, behind team mate Vettel, he spun into the wall, before slewing back across the track and taking Nico Rosberg out of the race in the process.
Put simply, it turned the championship battle on its head, and was perhaps one of the defining moments of the 2010 season.
A small mistake, but ultimately it lost Webber a chance of emulating Jack Brabham and Alan Jones. Without it, he may have gone on to become only the third Australian driver in the history of the sport to take the title.
