Mike Rockenfeller again stays with the green and yellow Schaeffler livery that saw both himself and Martin Tomczyk pick up the DTM titles both last year and 2011 respectively, as the 2012 Le Mans winner is happy to be in the colours that have given him a string of success over the past twelve months, which was unveiled this very evening.
The remaining seven liveries that will populate Audi Sport‘s challenge to go for the hat-trick in the thirtieth anniversary of the series itself have yet to be unveiled, as the dress rehearsals at the Hungaroring and Hockenheim will put the finishing touches on the new 2014 RS5 DTM, which has more aggressive profiling for this season through its aerodynamics.
All eight drivers, including “Rocky” and former two-time DTM champions, Mattias Ekstrom and Timo Scheider, will be on a week-long training camp, which will look to the “title defence,” as the preparation is hitting the home straight for all concerned.
Rockenfeller himself was impressed with the initial design, but he now has that target on the sides of his car for 2014: The number “#1,” which all 22 other drivers will be gunning for over ten race weekends.
“If the car is as fast as it looks, we’ve got good chances of being in contention,” said the Team Phoenix driver. “I’m incredibly excited about my first DTM season with ‘#1’ emblazoned on the car and can hardly wait for the next track tests to start.”
