LD Motorsports Signs Tohill and Skorupski

LD Motorsports Signs Tohill and Skorupski. LD Motorsports have today announced that they are to run a three car FIA World Rallycross team.

With new signings; Irishman Derek Tohill, who is the current European Touring Car Champion for the second time and Krzysztof Skorupski. Polish national Super1600 Champion. Both Tohill and Skorupski will bepiloting LD Motorsports prepared Citroen DS3s Supercars and racing for the LD Motorsports World RX Team.

LD Motorsports Team Principal Liam Doran was full of enthusiasm following the  announcement: “It’s shaping up to be an absolutely huge year, and signing Derek and Krzysztof is exactly what we need for the LD Motorsports World RX Team; the right mix of experience, speed and talent.” said Doran.

Derek started his rallycross career in 2004 in the Irish Hot Hatch Championship. With him he brings a wealth of experience to the team. In addition to his two European Touring Car titles, the 37-year old from Dublin has finished inside the top three in the European championship for the last four seasons, so he is no stranger to the rallycross big stage.

Driving a 600bhp Supercar for the first time is a daunting prospect for any driver. But for the 24 year old Pole Skorupski its a natural progression and with that he is incredibly focused on making the most of this incredible opportunity. The last time he drove on the European stage, which was in 2012 he finished an impressive second place behind Andreas Bakkerud who drove his rookie Supercar year for LD Motorsport last season.

It’s such a big opportunity, my main goal is to get used to the Supercars as quickly as possible, and adjust to the team.” said Skorupski. Who was also impressed with not only the car itself but also the team and setup at LD Motorsports.

Both Tohill and Skorupski are entered in the first round of the British Rallycross Championship that gets underway this weekend at Lydden Hill.
