The Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will be hoping a new year of new beginnings will be the perfect icing on the silver jubilee cake.
Celebrating 25 years since the first Carrera Cup racer took to the tracks of Germany, the Stuttgart manufacturer will be hoping their new 991 Cup car promotes tight racing amongst it’s 36 racers.
Used exclusively in the Mobil1 SuperCup in 2013, this is the first year regional championships will see the more powerful 991 at the hands of drivers from more than 10 countries.
The man to beat is Christian Engelhart, the experienced Konrad Motorsport driver will be fighting off 14 Germans, five Austrians, three Swiss and one American in the shape of Connor de Phillippi who will be starting his second season of Carrera Cup Deutschland as part of the young driver programme.

I’m delighted by the large field of starters, the great depth of ability and the fantastic mix of professional drivers, up-and-coming youngsters and enthusiastic amateurs,” says Andrea Hagenbach, Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland general manager. “To be able to present such a strong participant field so far ahead of the start of the season says a lot about the appeal of our series.”
The first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland takes place at Hockenheim on May 4th.
