The second qualifying session that determines the grid for races two and three of the FIA European Formula 3 Series event at the Nurburgring has been delayed until Sunday morning.
A crash in the preceding Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup support race necessitated barrier repairs and with qualifying already late in the day, it was decided to move the 20-minute session to 8:10am local time on Sunday.
A drivers fastest time in the session goes towards race two that will take place at 11:00am local time, while the second fastest lap of the session decides the grid for race three which goes off at 3:25pm local time.
New Red Bull Junior driver Max Verstappen took the race one victory for Van Amersfoort Racing in changeable conditions, having started the race on dry tyres on a wet track early on Saturday. He finished ahead of Italian duo Antonio Fuoco and Antonio Giovinazzi of Prema Powerteam and Jagonya Ayam with Carlin respectively.
Frenchman Esteban Ocon of Prema Powerteam remains the comfortable championship leader after finishing sixth in race one. The Lotus F1 Team junior driver is 77 points clear of Verstappen, with Briton Tom Blomqvist a further 31 points back in third for Jagonya Ayam with Carlin.
