Colin Turkington Makes Speedy Argos Visit This Friday

2 Mins read

Fresh off the back of clinching his second Dunlop British Touring Car Championship crown at the 2014 season finale at Brands Hatch GP,  eBay Motors driver Colin Turkington surprised unsuspecting Argos shoppers for his homecoming visit to Belfast in his title-winning BMW 125i M Sport.

The recently-crowned BTCC champion was reunited with his West Surrey Racing machine to shoot a teaser video for his homecoming visit to Argos on William Street, Belfast, where he will greet fans this Friday 31 October.

Turkington himself will be at the store from 09:00 GMT  to launch a new initiative between eBay and Argos, bringing along his championship trophy as well as the BMW itself which will be on display along William Street for the morning.

The 125i will also carry the #1 plate across its windows, the Northern Irishman aiming to defend his crown next season having been unable previously to do so in 2010.

The video itself features Turkington – in full racesuit and helmet – making a vital online Argos purchase via eBay’s website from West Surrey Racing’s factory. The purchase itself undoes the damage he did at the end of the season, choosing a toaster to replace the one he famously destroyed at WSR, filmed by ITV.

Turkington arrives at his nearby Argos store in Weybridge in his own unique style, doughnuts aplenty performed in the car park before stepping out of the BMW he claimed eight wins with in 2014 and venturing inside to collect his product from the counter in front of onlooking shoppers, who must have thought that they had uncovered the latest Top Gear Stig.

“It seems like ages ago since I have been in my eBay Motors BMW so today has been a lot of fun,” said Turkington. “I’ve always been one for new challenges and driving at top speeds around a small Argos car park is definitely a big test.

“I always get Northern Irish fans asking when I am going to bring the car back for them to see so I am delighted we are going to be able to make it happen. The support I get back home across the season is overwhelming so it’s a great feeling that I am going to be able to repay the fans and I can’t wait to see them.”

Remember, fans in Belfast can meet Turkington from 09:00 on Friday at Argos, 19 William St S, Co. Antrim BT1 4AR.
