9) Sam Tordoff
No longer the rookie, Tordoff again took the challenge to MG team-mate Jason Plato in 2014, although he found himself recovering from setbacks more often than not across the year.
Triple Eight were dominant at Donington and impressed at Snetterton, Rockingham, Silverstone and Brands Hatch, but only the one victory came against Tordoff’s name compared to Plato’s six.
However, the Leeds youngster had the better of his experienced team-mate at Donington in a head-to-head contest when the conditions got trickier, but from that stage luck fell the wrong side of the MG man.
Tordoff’s finest half-hours came at Knockhill and Rockingham where he claimed back-to-back pole positions, the former followed up by crippling misfortune as an electrical problem removed him from second place. Silverstone’s race three front row start was ruined then by mechanical problems, these the reasoning for his position.
Six podiums and a mighty final meeting of the season left Tordoff a strong seventh in the standings, one lower than last season but with plenty of options open to him for 2015 to be upbeat over.
