3) Tom Blomqvist
It was a breakthrough season for Tom Blomqvist in 2014, with the Jagonya Ayam with Carlin driver being a contender for race wins all season long. The British driver finished second in the championship, taking six victories along the way.
Whereas Blomqvist has always been quick, he raised his game this season, and was undoubtedly one of the stars of 2014. Winning first time out at Silverstone showed everyone he meant business, and he also won at Pau, the Hungaroring, the Red Bull Ring, Imola and Hockenheim.
He could have had even better results early in the season but for an engine change penalty that saw him drop outside the top ten despite being one of, if not the quickest driver in qualifying for both races two and three at Hockenheim and race one at Pau.
Whereas the drivers around him being linked to drives in F1, GP2, GP3 and Formula Renault, Blomqvist seems to be a forgotten man, and despite obvious talent has not been linked in the same manner, although he has had a recent DTM Series test with BMW.
