Two of the Lotus F1 Team’s junior drivers Alexander Albon and Dorian Boccolacci will compete in the 2015 FIA European Formula 3 Championship with the returning Signature team.
Albon swaps a 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series ride with KTR to move to Signature for this season; the Thai driver finished third in the championship last year with three podium finishes. He also was a 2014 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award finalist.
Boccolacci was racing in the French F4 championship in 2014, finishing second in the championship to Dane Lasse Sorensen. The Frenchman won twice during the year and took another six podiums, and becomes the latest sixteen-year-old to join the series in 2015.
Signature returned to the series with Volkswagen-power at Imola in 2014 having initially planned to use Renault engines but that plan was scrapped mere weeks before the season began. They now return to the series full time with a two-car team, although Team Principal Philippe Sinault has not ruled out bringing in a third driver should a suitable candidate become available.
“I am very, very happy and very honoured by the trust that Lotus has placed in me, by entrusting me with two of their proteges,” said Sinault.
“Last year, at the end of the season, we managed to come back with a competitive technical package, and to be on the pace from the start.
“Two cars is a good format to compete in the F3 championship, with the possibility of adding a third car if we find a top quality driver.”
