Chris Stockton Sells BTCC Team For 2015

1 Mins read

Chris Stockton has announced he has sold Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship squad BTC Racing for 2015 to Power Maxed, part of Automotive Brands.

Stockton piloted BTC Racing’s single Chevrolet Cruze saloon over the previous season on his way to finishing 31st overall in a tough year for the squad, picking up a personal best individual result of 18th in 2014.

The sale has been approved by BTCC Series Director Alan Gow which now sees the Chevrolet Cruze plus a spare shell, transporters, a spare parts package and the crucial TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL) transferred to the newly-renamed Power Maxed Racing team for the 2015 season. They will run the one Chevrolet Cruze purchased from Aiden Moffat Racing with intentions to expand to a two-car outfit, although a driver is yet to be announced.

Stockton said: “I’m sad to be taking a backseat just as things are coming together. Unfortunately the old adage is true, you wait for a bus and two come along at once. My pallet distribution business is growing phenomenally and opportunities that just cannot be passed up on have been presented. It is just not possible to run a BTCC team, grow my business and race, and do all entities justice unfortunately.

“Automotive Brands and Adam Weaver personally have been incredibly supportive to the Team and Myself throughout 2014. I couldn’t be happier that the team I founded and managed is starting its next chapter in such good hands, on the back of a huge amount of recent developments I learnt during 2014, I am sure that they will be successful.”
