Canadian Lance Stroll will continue his association with Prema Powerteam into the FIA European Formula 3 Championship in 2015.

The 2014 Italian Formula 4 champion had been linked to continuing with Prema but the team have now confirmed that the Ferrari Driver Academy driver as their second driver of four for this season, having already confirmed Briton Jake Dennis.

Prema Powerteam Rene Rosin was delighted to retain the services of Stroll and to be able to see him move up from Formula 4 into the competitive European F3 series for 2015, and is expecting big things from the sixteen-year-old despite it being only his second season of single-seater racing.

“After his phenomenal title run in the Italian F.4 Championship, in what was effectively his maiden open-wheel season, it was natural for us to continue the relationship with Lance and follow him through the highly-renowned FIA Formula 3 Series,” said Rosin. “For him, it will be the first time in an international car racing environment but I reckon he will be up to this new adventure.

“Winter testing has been extremely positive so far, also because Lance is a young guy able to listen and then put the advice into practice. So we are positively looking forward to the first round of the season, set for the April 12 weekend at Silverstone”

Prema Powerteam won both titles in European Formula 3 in 2014, with Frenchman Esteban Ocon taking the Drivers title.
