Felix Rosenqvist could not quite repeat his race two heroics in Sunday’s final FIA European Formula 3 Championship race at Silverstone, ultimately ending in twelfth position after starting the race from last on the grid.
The Swedish Prema Powerteam driver had an eventful final two races, making huge advances in both after being penalised for having a loose screw on his front wing following qualifying, but was happy with the pace he showed all weekend.
“That was quite an eventful first round of the season, to say the least,” said Rosenqvist. “We did our thing in pre-season testing and stuck to our programme, and it’s good to see that work now paying off.
“I was fastest in both qualifying sessions and won the first race, so the pace is there. What happened in second qualifying didn’t yield any performance advantage – if anything it only made the car slower – but it is what it is and the final two races were all about damage limitation.
“In the end, we managed to salvage some points and I don’t think there was much more we could have done. They were two exciting races, that’s for sure!
“I feel very much at home with the team, we obviously have a strong package, and I look forward to the rest of the year.”
