Callum Ilott will drop ten places on the grid for the first race of the Hockenheim weekend of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship after being found guilty of leaving the pit lane when the red light was illuminated.
The Red Bull Junior driver, racing for the Carlin team in 2015 having stepped up from karting, originally qualified ninth, the best of the three Carlin drivers, but will now start nineteenth, one place ahead of team-mate George Russell and nine places ahead of the teams’ third driver Tatiana Calderon.
Ilott’s demotion sees Team Motopark duo Markus Pommer and Sergio Sette Camara move up into ninth and tenth places respectively.
Race one begins at 13:10 local time on Friday, but will be preceded by the second qualifying session that determines the grid for races two and three, which take place on Saturday and Sunday afternoon’s respectively.
