BTCC Ace Ingram Set For GT Cup Drive With Hoggarth

1 Mins read

BTCC racer Tom Ingram will be taking part in the opening round of the GT Cup on 25-26 April as he teams up with Marcus Hoggarth in a Ferrari 458 Challenge car.

Ingram, who is currently racing in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship for Speedworks, will use his previous sportscar racing knowledge from his Ginetta days, having won the Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup G50 class in 2011 and the overall title in 2013.

“I’m looking forward to entering the GT Cup this year” he said. “The opportunity came about through Marcus, who is an ex team mate of mine from the Ginetta G55 days. He wanted someone to partner him and asked me and I jumped at the chance.

“It will be the first proper bit of GT racing I have done. The most powerful GT car I’ve driven is the G55 so hopefully this will open up another avenue of racing for me.”

Hoggarth previously raced in the Ginetta Supercup in 2012 and 2013 with JHR Developments, taking a best finish of fifth, before competing in the Pirelli Ferrari UK Open last season alongside one GT Cup round at Silverstone.

“The one GT Cup round I competed in last year was at Silverstone and it was great,” enthused Hoggarth. “I scored two class wins and got some nice pots to take home with me, which was a great return. Racing with the GT3 cars in particular was ace, so this year we’re focusing on the championship and having a tilt at the title.

“Tom and I raced together at JHR during our formative years in the Ginetta Supercup and I can’t speak highly enough of what a talent he is, so I’m looking forward to having him in our corner and pushing me to go quicker in the 458.”

Ingram plans to enter all of the rounds of the GT Cup that don’t clash with his BTCC commitments.
