Charles Leclerc: “We had the speed to do better”

1 Mins read

Charles Leclerc continued his impressive start to his FIA European Formula 3 Championship career around the streets of Pau, taking three more podium finishes to take his run to eight consecutive top three finishes, but was just short on taking his third win of the year.

The Van Amersfoort Racing driver took two third places and a runners-up spot during the weekend, but found his races compromised by mediocre starts that allowed Maximilian Günther twice the opportunity to get ahead of him and hold him up around the street track.

“I added three podiums to my results, so I can’t be unhappy,” revealed Leclerc. “But I also think that we had the speed to do better – but it’s so difficult to overtake here.

“Anyway, I’ve consolidated my second place in the championship, so that makes it a positive weekend. Pau is a place I like and I had a good time again this year.

“I look forward to Monza in two weeks, where I’m sure that my team will do a great job again so we can get more strong results.”
