Race two of the brand-new Audi Sport TT Cup took place this morning at Hockenheim, with plenty of overtaking and a fantastic five-way battle for the lead. Ultimately, Dennis Marschall of Germany was the winner.
The safety car was deployed twice in the 30 minute race, due to spins and collisions on the wet track. Marschall pushed past Nicolaj Møller Madsen at the hairpin on lap 7 and went on to defend his position for the win.
“The whole weekend went perfectly,” said Marschall. “Third place yesterday and victory today. That’s something you can build on for the season.”
Møller Madsen had to defend himself against strong performances from Alexis van de Poele, Marc Coleselli and Joonas Lappalainen towards the end of the race, with van de Poele eventually completing the podium.
In the guest driver class, rallycross superstar Tanner Foust won his battle against Toomas Heikkinen, with the American finishing 6th.
The next event for the TT Cup will be again supporting the DTM at the Norisring on June 27/28.
