BTCC FP2: Jordan Closes in on Plato

1 Mins read

Jason Plato was once again fastest in the second free practice session at Oulton Park, in preparation for rounds 10-12 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The Team BMR driver was yet again the only competitor to set a lap time below 1:26, but MG Triple Eight Racing‘s Andrew Jordan is now closing the gap to the BTCC veteran, and is just 0.344 seconds off the pace.

Despite the gap between 1st and 2nd, places 2nd through to 13th were separated by just half a second, showing how competitive the series is this year.

In third, behind Jordan, was Andy Priaulx, once again the fastest of the West Surrey Racing BMWs. In fourth is Speedworks Motorsport‘s Tom Ingram, who is enjoying a strong weekend so far after setting the second best time this morning.

The second MG of Jack Goff is fifth, indicating that the Triple Eight Racing squad have a strong chance of scoring a podium on their 100th race. Behind Goff is 2014 champion Colin Turkington, along with BMR teammate Aron Smith. Matt Neal set the eighth best time, with the Cheshire circuit so far not looking too generous to the Honda Yuasa Racing team so far. Adam Morgan (WIX Racing) and Gordon Shedden round out the top 10.

Qualifying starts at 15:20.
