Current European Formula 3 Championship leader Charles Leclerc was quickest in practice ahead of this weekend’s races at the Norisring in Germany.
The practice sessions were divided into two sections due to the high number of entrants this weekend, with Van Amersfoort Racing driver Leclerc setting the best time of the day of 48.704s in his second session, just ahead of Signature driver Alexander Albon.
Antonio Giovinazzi was third quickest for Jagonya Ayam with Carlin ahead of Felix Rosenqvist of Prema Powerteam, with the top four times being set out of the Group consisting of the odd-numbered cars (plus Matt Rao of Fortec Motorsports).
The leading runner from the even-numbered group was the second Signature of Dorian Boccolacci, which was enough to see him fifth quickest overall, just ahead of Mikkel Jensen in the leading of the Mücke Motorsport entries.
Lance Stroll was seventh quickest for Prema Powerteam, with the Canadian looking to put his troubled weekends at Monza and Spa-Francorchamps behind him this weekend in Germany; Stroll was banned for race three in Belgium last weekend following a number of high profile on-track clashes.
George Russell was eighth quickest for Carlin, ahead of Brandon Maisano of Prema Powerteam, while Ryan Tveter of Jagonya Ayam with Carlin completed the top ten.
Only thirty-two entries are racing at the Norisring this weekend, with EuroInternational still absent, while Hongwei Cao is not racing for Fortec Motorsports, meaning the original four-car entry for the team is now down to two for Rao and Pietro Fittipaldi.
