MSA Formula race winner Matheus Leist will make his FIA European Formula 3 Championship debut this weekend in Austria for Double R Racing in place of the injured Nicolas Pohler.
Pohler is recovering from a biking accident that left the German driver with a broken arm, and is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks, meaning he is likely to also miss the following round of the series in Portugal at the beginning of September.
Leist will deputise this weekend at the Red Bull Ring, with the Brazilian driver sitting fourth in the standings in the inaugural MSA Formula season, having won his maiden race in the championship back at Donington Park in May.
Due to his MSA Formula commitments, Leist will be unable to deputise in the following Algarve event, with the team set to seek another driver to replace Pohler then.
Pohler and Hong Kong driver Matt Solomon have yet to score a point for Double R Racing in 2015, having both made their series debuts this season.
