Ferrari Driver Academy driver Lance Stroll has been excluded from the result of the third race of the Monza weekend of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship following an appeal hearing.
The Prema Powerteam driver had initially been told to start from the pit lane for the race after causing a collision with Jagonya Ayam with Carlin driver Antonio Giovinazzi during race two that saw the Canadian driver crash wildly at Curva Grande.
However his team appealed the decision and Stroll was allowed to start from his eleventh place on the grid, and finished ninth on the road, but the International Court of Appeal has excluded him from the final result.
Only half points had been awarded in the race due to the race officials being unhappy with the driving standards of some of the drivers on track, meaning Stroll only loses one point rather than the two that would normally have been earned from a ninth place finish.
The result promotes Mücke Motorsport driver Maximilian Günther into ninth, with Motopark’s Markus Pommer moving into the points in tenth.
