The illness that ruled Jaime Alguersuari from the season finale of the inaugural FIA Formula E championship season at Battersea Park will rule the former Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver from season two of the championship.
The Spanish driver has confirmed in a statement that he will not be competing for the DS Virgin Racing team for the 2015-2016 season, and announced that he has been undergoing tests to find the cause of the illness that saw the FIA suspending his licence ahead of the Battersea Park weekend.
“During the month of July I underwent several tests for which there has not been a medical resolution and I am still waiting for the final diagnosis,” said Alguersuari.
“For this reason I need to announce that, unfortunately, I will not be able to take part in the FIA Formula E Championship for the 2015/16 season with my team DS Virgin Racing.
“I want to wish good luck to the team in the new championship and thank everyone for their support.
“In September I will announce my future plans.”
