Amlin and Andretti team up for season two

1 Mins read

Global insurance firm Amlin have announced a partnership with the Andretti Autosport outfit for season two of the FIA Formula E Championship after splitting with the Aguri team at the end of year one.

The familiar blue livery seen on the Amlin Aguri car during the 2014-15 season will now be visible on the Andretti Autosport machines during the 2015-16 season that begins in Beijing in October.

“We are excited to have Amlin onboard with our Andretti Formula E team,” said Team Principal Michael Andretti to Motorsport.com. “It’s great to have a sponsor who activates the way they do on social media and we feel it is a great fit for us and our brand.”

The CEO of Amlin Charles Philipps also spoke at the launch of the partnership in London, and hoped for positive results for the whole team.

“Amlin and Andretti were quick to spot the potential of Formula E,” said Philipps. “Both organisations are data driven and tech-focused, meaning there is much to look forward to over the coming seasons.”

Jean-Eric Vergne and Simona de Silvestro were rumoured to be the driver pairing for the second season, with Andretti Autosport having run eight different drivers across the eleven-race season one, but Vergne’s subsequent announcement at DS Virgin Racing means the team are still looking to finalise their line-up.
