Local man Gordon Shedden started his Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship visit to Knockhill in the best manner, topping the first practice session of Saturday.
The Scot’s effort in the closing stages of the 40-minute session was enough to top the times at 52.267s, leading a Honda Yuasa Racing one-two at the 1.2-mile Fife circuit.
Shedden moved the Motorbase Performance Ford Focus Mat Jackson from the top spot of the times, the latter having headed proceedings for much of the session, before Neal’s Honda Civic Type-R also jumped to second spot.
Adam Morgan was next up for Mercedes behind third-placed Jackson, while Sam Tordoff was the top West Surrey Racing BMW in fifth spot ahead of Andrew Jordan‘s Triple Eight MG6 GT.
WSR had two more cars in the top 10 with Andy Priaulx and Rob Collard, while Rob Austin and Aiden Moffat rounded out the 10 for Audi and Mercedes respectively.
Championship leader Jason Plato was 13th overall, his BMR Racing team-mate Colin Turkington down in 17th as the top 21 cars were covered by less than a second.
The session was brought to an end early however, as the red flags were waved in the final minute.
