Salvador Duran will join Vitantonio Liuzzi in the line-up for the Trulli Formula E Team for season two of the FIA Formula E championship as former Formula 1 race winner Jarno Trulli has stepped down from the team that bares his name.
Duran moves across from racing for the Aguri team in the inaugural season, where he took a best finish of sixth in Moscow, with Trulli Team Principal Lucio Cavuto happy to see the Mexican join the team.
“He’s a driver that we were looking at last year, and we have been very impressed with his improvements during the championship,” said Cavuto.
“We are very glad that he trusts us despite two difficult tests. But we introduced him to our project and he saw how hard we’re working and that our project is very ambitious.
“The fact that he knows the category will give him a lot as we won’t be able to give him a lot of time in the car during pre-season testing.”
Trulli steps down having finished in the points only once in season one, a fourth place in Uruguay, but did have a surprise pole position in the event in Germany.
