Double Podium for Sloan Urry at Sonoma

1 Mins read

Sloan Urry‘s run of good form in the Pirelli World Challenge GT Cup category continued at Sonoma Raceway, having scored second and third place finishes in rounds 16 and 17 respectively.

The driver of the #02 Porsche for TruSpeed Autosport took his 11th and 12th podiums of the season.

From the second row, the Utah-native ran a clean and consistent Saturday race, taking advantage of the leader’s mistake towards the end, and moving up to second place.

The following day, his pace was just as strong, and although he was closing the gap to the two leaders by the final few laps, faster GT class cars got in the way of his progress, denying him a second top-two finish.

“We were fastest at some portions of the race and I was catching up to the leaders quite quickly toward the end there,” he said, referencing Sunday’s round.

“I had a big gaggle of GT cars coming through that weren’t too kind and I had quite a few cars spin in front of me which was just kind of bad timing and I couldn’t do anything about it.

“I’m a little disappointed in the result compared to what we could have achieved today but I’m just happy to once again be on the podium.”
