Mat Jackson Leads Shortened Silverstone FP1

1 Mins read

Mat Jackson topped the timesheets in the first 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship free practice session at the Silverstone National Circuit, but the session was ended prematurely following a incident involving Warren Scott.

The Motorbase Performance recorded a best time of 58.952 in his Ford Focus midway through the session, and was the only driver to set a sub-59 seconds time.

Second place was secured by Josh Cook in his Power Maxed Racing Chevrolet Cruze, just 0.067s behind the leader. He came only 0.005s ahead of Warren Scott’s Team BMR Volkswagen CC. However, despite Scott’s pace throughout the session, he came off the track at Copse, making heavy contact with the barrier and resulting in serious front end damage. He has been transferred to the Silverstone Medical Centre, having said he has some pain.

Jack Goff finishes fourth, in front of Dave Newsham and Gordon Shedden. Colin Turkington and Andrew Jordan finished seventh and eighth, but were still within 0.2s of the leader. The first of the BMWs was Andy Priaulx in ninth, whilst Aron Smith completes the top ten.

Notable absentees from the top ten were: Matt Neal in 12th; Sam Tordoff one place behind; and Jason Plato in 15th. The championship leader set a 59.472, 0.520s shy of Jackson’s pace.

Free Practice 2 begins at 13:15, with qualifying scheduled for 16:15.
