1 Mins read

Championship leader Felix Rosenqvist took pole position for the opening race of the FIA European Formula 3 Championship weekend at the Nurburgring.

The Prema Powerteam driver set a best time of 1m21.126s to take his fourteenth pole position for 2015, beating the time set by Carlin driver George Russell by 0.152s.

Nick Cassidy was third fastest for Prema Powerteam despite having run at the front before team-mate Rosenqvist set his quickest time, with Callum Ilott confirming Carlin’s pace this weekend with the fourth fastest time in his Red Bull-backed machine.

Jake Dennis ended the session in fifth in another of the Prema Powerteam entries, just ahead of fellow championship contenders Charles Leclerc of Van Amersfoort Racing and Antonio Giovinazzi of Jagonya Ayam with Carlin.

Mikkel Jensen was the best of the Mücke Motorsport foursome in eighth, with Motopark’s Markus Pommer and Sergio Sette Camara completing the top ten.
