Hong Kong will join the FIA Formula E championship for season three and will host its first race on 9 October 2016.
The city was set to host a race during the inaugural season of the championship in 2014/15 but dropped off the calendar, but will now see racing for season three.
The circuit is set to be amongst the fastest on the Formula E calendar, with top speeds estimated in the region of 140mph, with the 1.2-mile circuit planned to run between Lung Wo Road and the Star Ferry, with the main straight between turns 1 and 2 set to offer the best opportunity for overtaking.
“The Hong Kong ePrix will be one of the highlights of the FIA Formula E Championship calendar,” said Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag.
“As one of the most innovative, cutting-edge and fun-loving cities in the world, Hong Kong and Formula E share many of the same qualities.
“We look forward to bringing all the fun and entertainment of Formula E to this amazing city, and international motorsport back to Hong Kong.”
