Barnicoat makes Euro F3 move with Prema for 2016

1 Mins read

Ben Barnicoat will join Prema Powerteam for the 2016 FIA European Formula 3 Championship season.

The Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver will link-up with the multiple championship winning team having been a race winner in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series in 2015 with Fortec Motorsports.

Barnicoat’s move to Prema means a second consecutive season of Racing Steps Foundation livery on one of their cars, the team having run Jake Dennis to third in the championship in 2015.

“I am really, really looking forward to it,” said eighteen-year-old Barnicoat to Autosport. “It’s very good to be going to the best team in the series – they have an incredible track record over the last few years.

“Jake had a great year, so I will be hoping to follow his success.”

Barnicoat becomes the third driver to be confirmed for the 2016 season, with Lance Stroll having been already announced at Prema, while Pedro Piquet has signed for Van Amersfoort Racing.
