AmD Tuning unveiled a striking new retro livery for their Audi S3 ahead of the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, although a driver is still unconfirmed for the car’s latest full season.
The Independent outfit fielded the S3 during five events in 2015 with Nic Hamilton and Jake Hill sharing the driving duties, the West Thurrock-based team now giving the front-wheel drive machine its first full season in 2016.
The revised look of the car replaces the predominantly black livery seen on the S3 last year, adding a sense of nostalgia instead by including elements of the famous colour scheme worn by Hans Joachim Stuck’s famous IMSA Audi 90 GTO of the late 1980s.
“We’re pleased to take the covers off the new look Audi and think the end result will stand out on track during the season ahead,” team boss Shaun Hollamby said.
“We were keen to go back to our traditional colours this year and we saw the ideal opportunity to incorporate elements of the IMSA Audi livery to celebrate our first full season with the S3.
“Audi has a huge amount of history and heritage in motorsport and whilst we are an independent team, we are proud to celebrate part of that heritage in the livery we have chosen. The famous Audi stripes go well with our own red and black, and also with the colours of Cobra Exhausts who we are delighted to have on board again this season.”
Talks with potential drivers for the season ahead are ongoing, with an announcement on the scenario set to be made in due course.
AmD’s Audi S3 will be on show for fans to witness at the remaining three days of the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC Arena, positioned at the Cobra Exhausts Stand until Sunday.
