The dates have been confirmed for Thruxton’s regular pre-season test days, which provide teams and drivers their only opportunity to test at the unique Hampshire circuit prior to the 2016 season.
The annual test, which this year will run over the afternoon of Wednesday 17th February and all day on Thursday 18th, is a popular stop for many of the front-running BTCC outfits.
Last year’s test saw Andrew Jordan complete one of his first public outings in his Triple Eight MG, with WSR duo Sam Tordoff and Rob Collard, plus the Honda Yuasa Racing team, amongst those in action.
The ‘General Test’ is not exclusive to BTCC teams however, with the alternating open and closed-wheel sessions attracting a host of competitors from the support championships and further afield.
“It’s always good to kick-start the season with a busy couple of test days, and we fully expect to see plenty of cars out on-track next month,” said Thruxton Group Managing Director Bill Coombs.
“Due to noise restrictions, there are limited opportunities for race cars to run here at Thruxton outside of race weekends, so this is an invaluable chance to do some pre-season homework and get a head-start on the opposition for when the serious business gets underway!”
The test days will run between 13:00 and 17:00 on Wednesday 17 February, and 09:00 to 17:00 on Thursday 18 February, with free access usually granted to spectators.
The 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship visits the high-speed circuit near Andover over the weekend of 7/8 May.
