The British based Carlin team have announced Italian teenager Alessio Lorandi as their second driver for the 2016 FIA European Formula 3 Championship.
The seventeen-year-old joins American racer Ryan Tveter in the team, having made his series debut last season with Van Amersfoort Racing, securing a number of points finishes, with his best result being sixth around the streets of Pau.
Lorandi also had impressive weekend at the Macau Grand Prix last November, and will be looking to build on his 2015 experiences with Carlin this season.
“I am delighted to join forces with Carlin, a team that accomplished so much in Formula 3 and is also lining-up in other top-tier categories,” revealed Lorandi. “The chemistry with the staff has been excellent since the very first test and the work we did together proved extremely valuable.
“Trevor [Carlin, team owner] constantly showed how much he believes in my abilities and so it has been pretty easy to reach an agreement for the 2016 season. I could feel the excitement of the guys at Carlin and they are really motivated to go for a successful run this season”
