Carlin have announced Chinese driver Li Zhi Cong as their third confirmed driver for the 2016 FIA European Formula 3 Championship, joining Ryan Tveter and Alessio Lorandi.
It will be Peter Li’s second season in the championship after racing with Fortec Motorsports in 2015, and it sees him reunited with a Carlin team he raced for previously in British Formula 3 in 2014.
“I’m really pleased to be back at Carlin, it’s a great opportunity for me to build on my first season and aim for strong results in my second year of the FIA Formula Three European Championship,” said Li.
“I’m sure that as ever, there will be a lot to learn over the season but I’m pleased to be learning from one of the most experienced teams in Formula Three and looking forward to the upcoming year.”
Trevor Carlin has welcomed the Chinese driver back into the team and hopes to be able to see strong results for the team during 2016.
“We’re delighted to welcome Peter back to the team for a season in the FIA Formula Three European Championship,” said Carlin. “Peter knows the team well and we’re pleased to have him back on board.
“We know from previous seasons together that he is a hard working driver and we’re looking forward to continuing that relationship over the course of his season.”
