Despite missing both free practice sessions on Saturday morning, Jean-Eric Vergne will compete in the Buenos Aires ePrix are recovering sufficiently from food poisoning.

The Frenchman’s participation appeared to be in doubt after being laid low by illness overnight, with both Jose Maria Lopez and Adam Carroll both being linked to replace him having both had seat fittings in his DS Virgin Racing car during the morning.

Lopez was set to stand in for Vergne in front of his home fans, but Vergne’s return put paid to the two-time World Touring Car Champion making his Formula E debut.

Vergne will have to rely on the information he gathered from the handful of laps he completed of the Buenos Aires track during the shakedown on Friday before jumping onto the track for his one and only qualifying run.

DS Virgin Racing team-mate Sam Bird had set the pace in opening practice and finished fourth in FP2, proving the team had good pace in the Argentine capital city.
