Ill Vergne set to miss Buenos Aires ePrix

1 Mins read

Jean-Eric Vergne is set to miss this weekend’s Formula E race around the streets of Buenos Aires after falling ill overnight.

The Frenchman, who is racing this season for DS Virgin Racing after moving across from Andretti Autosport, is set to miss the fourth ePrix of the season, with two-time FIA World Touring Car Champion and Argentine racer Jose Maria Lopez being lined up to replace him.

The Argentine racer was on PR duty for Citroen this weekend, with the 2014 and 2015 WTCC champion likely to partner Sam Bird in the DS Virgin Racing team if Vergne is deemed unfit to race and Lopez is given permission to compete.

Lopez is in negotiations with FIA Formula E officials to ensure he has the licence required to compete in the ePrix, but his name on the entry list is likely to boost the popularity of the event.
