Jaguar due to reveal Formula E line-up at London ePrix

1 Mins read

The new Jaguar Formula E team are expected to announce their driver line-up for next season at the London ePrix in July.

According to Motorsport.com, a source within the team has said Jaguar will make the announcement ahead of conducting testing at Battersea Park, after they agreed a deal to have their own pit garage provided for the race weekend.

With regards to the identity of the driver, the source said, “We are likely to have a British driver announced there, too. Someone who will do a very good job for us, someone who both Jaguar and Williams really believe in.”

Anthony Davidson has been strongly linked with a drive for the team, and could fit Formula E around his current WEC commitments for Toyota. The team’s technical alliance with Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE) could also bring Paul di Resta and Alex Lynn into the frame given their contracts with Williams Racing.

The team are also looking for an established frontrunner, and are believed to have had discussions with Nelson Piquet Jnr, Antonio Felix da Costa and Sam Bird.

With regards to the progression of next year’s car, the source said that in addition to being allowed to test at Battersea Park, they are planning to conduct a private test in June, and a shakedown run at Kemble airfield this month.

It means that in addition to the expertise from the WAE personnel already based in the team, Jaguar should have an extensive amount of data available to them ahead of their debut season.
