Team HARD BTCC Test For Clio Leader Whorton-Eales

1 Mins read

Current Renault UK Clio Cup championship leader Ant Whorton-Eales will get his first taste of Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship machinery at Snetterton tomorrow (30th July).

Whorton-Eales’ opportunity comes with Team HARD and will see the 22 year old take to the track in one of the team’s Toyota Avensis’ during the second day of the official Dunlop tyre test.

The chance comes after a superb start to the 2016 Clio Cup season for the JamSport Racing ace, who leads the points standings courtesy of five race wins in the opening ten races.

Whorton-Eales will be able to compare times with some of his former Clio competitors on the BTCC grid, including reigning champion Ashley Sutton, Josh Cook and Jack Goff.

“I can’t wait to be honest, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Whorton-Eales.

“I’ve no idea what a BTCC car feels like and obviously they’re big step from what I’m used to in the Clio Cup but I’ll get in the car and hopefully we’ll see just what I can do.

“You’ve just got to look as far as Ash Sutton really. He was the main man in Clios last year and there’s no reason why I can’t do a similar sort of thing.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity and massive thanks to Tony (Gilham) and Team HARD for sorting it out.”
