Adam Morgan moved to the top of the times in the second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship free practice session of the day at Snetterton’s 300 circuit.

Despite a brief shower before the second 40-minute session of the day in Norwich, times tumbled compared to the first practice run earlier in the morning under darker skies.

The top spot was hotly contested by numerous drivers, Mat Jackson briefly heading a Motorbase Performance one-two in the first 10 minutes before Colin Turkington again moved to the top.

Fastest in first practice, Turkington’s Silverline Subaru Team BMR Levorg GT ended the second session fifth overall, Morgan’s Mercedes closing in on the Northern Irishman’s overall lap record with a time of 1m56.139s to lead the way.

Behind the Ciceley Racing Mercedes A-Class, Ashley Sutton sat just 0.232s adrift in second for Triple Eight, while Aron Smith‘s Team BKR Volkswagen CC ended third having topped the times himself at one stage.

Tom Ingram‘s Toyota Avensis was next up, ahead of Turkington and championship leader, Sam TordoffAiden Moffat confirmed the strong pace of Mercedes in seventh, Hunter Abbott eighth for Power Maxed Racing ahead of Gordon Shedden (Honda) and Andrew Jordan (Ford).

Shedden’s preparation for the session was affected by an engine change for his Halfords Yuasa Racing Civic Type-R, while other Hondas hit drama when action got underway. Eurotech Racing‘s Jeff Smith suffered an off at the first corner, while Matt Simpson departed with a wheel from his Civic.

Qualifying gets underway at 15:50, and you can keep up with all the action right here and via@TheCheckerFlag on Twitter.
