David Beckmann secured his first outright podium of his blossoming FIA European Formula 3 Championship career with a strong drive on a good weekend for the young German racer.
Beckmann had the beating on his more experienced Mücke Motorsport team-mate Mikkel Jensen throughout the weekend around the sand dunes at Zandvoort, and after a tenth and a seventh in the opening two races, secured his maiden podium finish on Sunday behind Prema Powerteam duo Maximilian Günther and Nick Cassidy.
The result also earned him his second rookie victory, but the former ADAC Formula 4 race winner was delighted with his first outright Formula 3 top three finish, which came at just his fourth event after being forced to sit out the opening two events at Paul Ricard and the Hungaroring due to being too young to participate in the championship.
”After the start, I was third straight away and I was able to hold on to this position throughout the race,” said Beckmann on the official FIA European Formula 3 Championship website. “I am really happy to have scored my first real podium finish in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship after having been on the rookie podium a couple of times already.”
