George Russell secured a double pole position for races two and three at Spa-Francorchamps as the FIA European Formula 3 Championship teams finally got some dry running in on Thursday.

Russell now has three pole positions to his name in 2016, with his Hitech GP team seemingly getting the set-up of their cars correct as all three of drivers within the team will be starting inside the top six on the grid for both races.

Russell’s best time of 2:12.110 was enough to take pole position for race two, while his second fastest time of 2:12.156 will see him start race three from the front as well.

Joining Russell on the front row for both races will be Motopark’s Joel Eriksson, who denied Nikita Mazepin a first front row start for race two, with the Hitech GP driver starting a season’s best third alongside Mücke Motorsport’s Mikkel Jensen.

Fifth on the grid for race two will be the third Hitech entry of Ben Barnicoat, with the Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver setting a time of 2:12.566 to finish ahead of fellow Briton Callum Ilott of Van Amersfoort Racing, while Ilott’s team-mate Anthoine Hubert will start seventh.

Prema Powerteam, the power horses and the dominant team of the championship will see Maximilian Günther start down in eighth for race two, but the German is the only representative of the team inside the top ten, with championship leader Lance Stroll unable to replicate his domination from qualifying one, instead qualifying down in eleventh behind David Beckmann and Guanyu Zhou.

For race three, Russell and Eriksson once again form the front row of the grid, with Barnicoat and Ilott this time filling row two ahead of Hubert and Mazepin, with Beckmann, Günther, Stroll and Prema’s Nick Cassidy completing the top ten.
