Mahindra Racing have launched their new livery for the 2016/17 season after choosing the new design from entries to a fan competition.
#DrivenByDesign invited fans of the Indian team to send in their ideas for what the new M3Electro should look like.
280 designs were received from fans living in forty different countries, with the top fourteen designs being judged by Chief Designer at design house Pininfarina, Fabio Filippini.
The design from Spaniard Adria Haro Jorba was chosen, and after just seven days it was sprayed on the car and ready ahead of the first Donington Park test which began today.
Fabio Filippini said, “All three of the top entries propose, through the graphic combination of colours and shapes, a good dynamic interpretation of the challenging spirit of Formula E.”
“The winning livery in particular expresses a strong sense of speed and aerodynamic flow, by visualising and enhancing airflow around the car body and the aerodynamic components.”
“It also achieves a very clean and simple use of the iconic Mahindra colours and a subtle integration of the Indian national flag.”
Team Principal Dilbagh Gill was also a fan of the design, saying, “We would like to thank all the Mahindra Racing fans for their overwhelming participation in this exciting contest.”
“Adrià’s design is a perfect mix of Mahindra’s energetic red with the subtle inclusion of the Indian flag colours and I look forward to seeing it on track today.”
This is not the first time that Mahindra have asked fans to get involved in design. Earlier in the year they invited fans to send in suggestions for the track layout of a potential race in New Delhi, which were presented to the State Government.
