MG Duo Excluded From Race One BTCC Result At Silverstone

1 Mins read

Triple Eight duo Ashley Sutton and Josh Cook have been excluded from the results of the opening Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race at Silverstone, having taken a one-two finish.

Sutton had claimed a second victory of his rookie BTCC season in the opening encounter of the day at the national circuit in Northamptonshire, leading home MG team-mate Cook.

Both drivers have been excluded from the results however, after a technical infringement regarding rear wing alignment. Triple Eight are reportedly appealing the decision.

The result means that Tom Ingram is promoted to claim his second win of the season for Speedworks Motorsport, ahead of Andrew Jordan (Ford) and Rob Austin (Toyota).

Success ballast is unchanged however for race two, meaning that Sutton does still carry the maximum 75kg in his MG in the second outing that begins at 14:30.

Sam Tordoff also therefore extended his championship lead, now leading by 10 points from Matt Neal.
