Lance Stroll and Maximilian Günther will share the pole positions for races two and three at the Nurburgring as Prema Powerteam locked out the front row for both races.
The second qualifying session was equally as close as the first had been earlier in the day, with less than one second covering the whole seventeen-car field, but it was Stroll who set the pace with a time of 1:21.006 to take pole for race two.
Team-mate Günther was second fastest with a 1:21.111 to complete the front row, but the positions will be reversed for race two, with Günther’s second best time of 1:21.154 beating Stroll’s 1:21.212.
George Russell will start third for Hitech GP in race two ahead of Motopark’s Joel Eriksson, while Prema Powerteam’s Nick Cassidy was fifth.
Motopark’s Niko Kari, who in between rounds made his GP3 Series debut at Spa-Francorchamps, will start sixth ahead of Prema Powerteam’s Ralf Aron ahead of Van Amersfoort Racing duo Callum Ilott and Anthoine Hubert, while Guanyu Zhou of Motopark will complete the top ten.
Eriksson and Cassidy will share row two for Sunday’s final race of the weekend, with Kari and Ilott fifth and sixth ahead of Russell, who could not match his race two grid slot. Aron, Van Amersfoort Racing’s Harrison Newey and Hitech GP’s Ben Barnicoat will complete the top ten for race three.
