It was a more straightforward race two for Lance Stroll at the Hockenheimring as he secured his thirteenth victory of his championship-winning season as he led from start-to-finish.
Having battled hard with Prema Powerteam team-mate Maximilian Günther in race one, there was no real challenge from behind, and after leading the first lap by more than 1.5 seconds, was able to control the race from the front.
A sluggish start from fellow front row starter Jake Hughes gave Stroll the jump on the field, with Sergio Sette Câmara initially slotting into second only to be penalised with a drive-through penalty after being adjudged to have jumped the start.
With Sette Câmara out of the way, his Motopark team-mate Joel Eriksson moved into second, with the result confirming him as the rookie champion for 2016.
Eriksson was shadowed throughout the race by Van Amersfoort Racing’s Callum Ilott, with the duo finishing 1.351 seconds apart at the chequered flag, although both were almost five seconds adrift of the race winner who commanded the race with aplomb and relative ease.
David Beckmann advanced four places on his starting position to take fourth for Mücke Motorsport, with Hughes taking fifth for Carlin after recovering from his bad start.
Ralf Aron was sixth for Prema Powerteam ahead of the battle between Hitech GP’s George Russell and Anthoine Hubert and Van Amersfoort Racing, with the former clinching third place in the championship standings as a result as his main rival Nick Cassidy retired early following a clash with Alexander Sims.
Following his earlier podium in race one, Günther could only finish ninth for Prema Powerteam, while Ben Barnicoat completed the top ten for Hitech GP.
