Damage Rules Jason Plato Out Of Final BTCC Race At Brands

1 Mins read

Jason Plato will miss the final Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Brands Hatch following his accident earlier in the afternoon.

The double champion’s Adrian Flux Subaru Racing Levorg speared into the pit wall after contact with Matt Simpson at the start of the second race of the day in Kent, causing the race to be red flagged.

Plato emerged unscathed from the shunt, but the damage to his Levorg was significant enough to rule him out of action for the third race of the day.

Simpson suffered a puncture in the incident, but said that the speed in which the scenario unfolded was the decisive factor.

“We obviously made unfortunate contact at the start of the race with Jason”, Simpson told The Checkered Flag.

“The accident all happened so quick. That’s the problem. You’ve got FWD and RWD cars making very different starts, so it’s a shame that it happened.”
