Di Grassi relishing title finale after ‘best day’ in Formula E

Lucas di Grassi described his race win in the first round of the Montreal ePrix as his ‘best day’ in Formula E.

The Brazilian claimed pole and was the class of the field as he scored 28 points in total.

That was enough to overturn the seven point deficit he faced to Sebastien Buemi, and with the Swiss driver’s subsequent disqualification di Grassi now holds an eighteen point lead going into the final race.

It meant that di Grassi became the only other driver to have held the lead of the championship, despite being 43 points down at one stage of the season.

And while Buemi was left fuming after yesterday’s race, his rival was delighted with his day’s work.

“This has been the best day in my Formula E career so far,” di Grassi said. “Thank you to my team and to everyone who never stopped working hard and believing in us.”

The result means that a fourth place finish in today’s finale will be enough for di Grassi to win what would be his first title.
